This article explores the impact of AI on healthcare professional autonomy, drawing on recent academic literature to provide an overview of the ethical, deontological, and practical considerations.

The Dual Role of AI: Support and Challenge

AI in healthcare primarily functions as a clinical decision support system (CDSS), designed to assist healthcare professionals in making more informed decisions. [2] These systems can analyze vast amounts of data, identify patterns that may be imperceptible to the human eye, and provide evidence-based recommendations for diagnosis and treatment.
